How to identify poison ivy

Leaves of three, let it be – poison ivy has three leaves
Berries white, run in fright- poison ivy has a berry-like fruit between August and November
Red leaflets in spring, it’s a dangerous thing- Early poison ivy leaf sprouts are red in color
If butterflies land there, don’t put your hand there- butterflies are immune, so they tend to land on poison ivy to protect themselves from predators
Hairy vine, no friend of mine- if you see a raggy looking vine, it is probably poison ivy
Longer middle stem, stay away from them- in some cases, the middle leaf has a longer stem than the other leaves
Side leaflets like mittens, will itch like the dickens- not always the case, but sometimes the two outer leaves of a leaf triplet will look like a pair of mittens.
